I’ve already mentioned that I am trying to develop my own shout box, noh? The reason why I did that is because I want to learn something new and I can’t buy a new book yet so I thought why not do it and undergo a series of trial and error so I’d know one or two things, and so here’s what’s happening…

I’ve progressed a bit, I guess… There’s already an admin section, meaning I can already delete multiple messages/smilies using check boxes, I can block IPs, the login and logout is already functioning well, add smilies to the database, and add a time to the post… well that was not yet implemented but I’m already seeing it at the admin area.

I’m glad that it’s working since this is my very first script (not from scratch though since tutorials aided me along the way.) But it seems that as I go along further the more complicated things get… These talks about sessions, cookies, strings, variables, timestamps and classes… I can’t understand them! I tried reading tutorials regarding these things but it seems that nothing is getting inside my head! Help me… I need a tutor…

I was a little confident when I started to do this since no one taught me about HTML, CSS and even using and implementing themes in Wordpress, okay so I asked Becca if I could check her CSS so I’d know how the tableless design goes, but that was just about it. Peeking through people’s codes so I’d know how they did this, did that, try it on my own, a process of trial and error. But it’s a whole lot different with PhP.

One, because it’s a server side script, and two, even if I was able to see any codes… I don’t think I’d be able to understand them at all! *sigh* I tried reading the PhP Manual but I don’t like reading in front of the computer and my brain isn’t functioning well, I’ve already mentioned that right?

But don’t get me wrong, I love working with scripts, I like coding my designs because it usually have errors, I love the thrill and the challenge it provides me. (One time, I even dreamt about the problem I was facing then regarding DIVs hehehe) I just hate the fact that I can’t understand the things that I’ve been reading… This sucks, I really, REALLY want to learn PhP… But I will prevail! I should!
