Graphika Manila: The Event that was

December 2 is a fairly busy day for me because there was Graphika Manila that spanned the entire day and then, my former workmates and I went out for the night and had karaoke which I will be expanding later on (with pictures of course :) )

Graphika Manila

I have to say that I am somewhat disappointed in the most talked designers’ event, perhaps because I have expected too much from it. But I can’t say that the amount I paid for is not worth it because I still got a lot out of it regarding the proper attitude on being a designer as well as the speakers’ work flow.

It was a great event especially if I have seen some members of PhilWeavers who I know are there because I felt like a lost soul haha, but anyway… moving on.

Avid Liongoren, Nico Puertolliano and Joshua Davis are great speakers! I especially loved Joshua Davis, I have to say that I haven’t heard a lot about him before the event but after this, I’d make sure to drop by his site every now and then, he’s a great man and a great artist more so. I like the fact that even though he is already world-renowned his feet are still on the ground and his work, wow!

Avid Liongoren and Nico Puertolliano… well I loved their works and I especially love the fact that it is mass media related because I have wanted to do those kinds of stuff especially during my College years. I am a Mass Communication graduate after all… Nico left us a very important piece of information which is Broadcast Designer, I know it doesn’t sound impressive but it is to me, if only we’ve known of such a thing, we could’ve done our MTV and PR videos a lot better. And of course, the money-saving techniques of Avid’s, it would’ve helped our projects a lot haaay…

When Avid presented his works I was awed because his work composed of Kitchie Nadal’s Same Ground MTV and the Islander commercial that my father has been so proud of because it was his companies’ main product after all.

At the end of the day, one effect that the conference gave me is that I was inspired, to think outside the box and not be afraid to try new things. Hay, I have to start learning Adobe Illustrator na so I would be like them and George Lindemann Jr.! :D

Karaoke with the guys

Since I haven’t enjoyed myself that much in Graphika Manila because of the lack of companion, I could say that having karaoke with the guys is the main spotlight of my day (naks!).
