TXTPower to boycott Globe

Sorry for the lack of well, personal updates, I’ve been stacked with works and the only things I tend to notice these days are the news bloggers link to. There was even a time when my brothers and sister went home from school and asked me about my Mom’s whereabouts and all I could say was, “Huh? She’s gone? I don’t know.” Well, they’re not that pissed, they just wouldn’t stop asking me, “Were you really here the whole day?

So anyway, Globe and TXTPower are battling it out. The reason for all this is because of Globe’s new unlimited text scheme which are as follows (courtesy of PTB):

All-day unlimited texting (UNLITXT20, UNLITXT 40, UNLITXT 80)

  • P20 - 1 day
  • P40 - 2 days
  • P80 - 4 days

For the heavy day-time texters (UNLITXTD15, UNLITXTD30)

  • 15 - 1 day
  • 30 - 2 days

For the heavy night-shift texters (UNLITXTN10, UNLITXTN20)

  • P10 - 1 day
  • P20 - 2 days

Unlimited GHP-GHP Texting + P0.75 SMS to other networks (TXTPLUS25, TXTPLUS50)

  • P25 - 1 day
  • P50 - 2 days

Karla Redor: New Scheme for GlobeAca?a?cs Unlimited SMS service

When I first received this message, I was so shocked I thought twice whether I should continue using Globe’s services, or any telecom’s services for that matter, since well, it’s such a pain in the you-know-where to subscribe to Smart’s unlimited text service these days.

After the initial shock, I remembered, oh it’s business, it’s the Love Season and summer vacation is around the corner, obviously teenagers would want to keep in touch with one another through text, what a good way to capitalize on it, right? And here I am hoping that the low rates would be for good.

I’ve never been the text junkie, until I had to be cooped inside the house, because I feel that it’s such a big waste of money, I could use that money elsewhere, like internet cards (back in the dial up days) and food. Now, hmm, if only I don’t need it for work and to catch up with what my friends are up to, my phone would remain to be just the receiver of text messages like the good ol’ days.

Moving on, to make the long story short, TXTPower petitions Globe’s new rate to the NTC, NTC said Globe’s move is illegal and or ordered to bring back the old unlimited text service rates back, Globe doesn’t want to saying they have a right. Now TXTPower wants us to boycott Globe. Is it possible? Is it really a rip off in the part of the consumers? For me, all I want is the old rates back, c’mon Globe, don’t be so stubborn!

If I were still the text addict I used to be, I’d probably be one of the first to complain. Kaso ewan ko ba, since late January, I just lost all interest in texting, kaya wala na rin akong pakialam sa new rates ng Globe. Hehe. ^_^

haha, maybe because texting can’t fulfill our needs anymore :) I do need that though…

What I can say is that Globe increased their unlimited texting service fee on a very late day. Nasanay na kasi ang mga tao sa 15, 25, 50. If they increased it ages ago, when Globe’s unlimited texting service was still a promo, I’m sure, there will be fewer complaints from the subscribers.

Oh, most of my friends are transferring to Sun Cellular for the mean time. So I have no choice to buy a Sun sim. Lol

hmm… now that you mentioned it… I think you have have a point there. Sun… hmm, I can’t force my friends to transfer to Sun sim eh, their 350/month unlimited post-paid plan is really tempting though…

My classmates are text addicts, and sends about 600 messages a day. -_- so they’re really protesting about it. I think it’s expensive too, although to be honest I dont have problems with load so I never used unlimited texting. Plus I’m much more of a call person, so I’m not really affected that much. -_-

i read somewhere that Globe can really charge whatever the price it wants as long as the market reacts positively. the only way to put down this kind of cheap trick of globe is simply not avail of the service.

i dont want to demean globe users, but if you don’t want to be ‘overcharged’, then stay away from the promo.

sana lang din mag-isip ang sambayanang pilipino na habang nag-te-text sila, pinayayaman nila ang globe at pinaghihirap nila ang sarili nilang buhay.

I’m a Globe subscriber and it[the increase] doesn’t bother me much.

Sometimes, I’d like to think that many Globe users deserve it. There’s nothing wrong with forwarding jokes but I’ve received a lot of “foul” or “below the belt” jokes (which I don’t forward). Text all you want pero sana decency rin naman diba? I even hated a lot that Ederlyn series which I don’t find funny at all. But before the increase, it takes me almost 1/4 day(6 hours) to get my confirmation. I’d prefer paying 20/day for better services than sticking to that ass-slow 15/day. Hehe.

At least sa Globe, di ako ninanakawan ng load… when I used Smart when I was in HS, nagtataka ako bakit ambilis ng maubos ng load ko kahit di ako masyadong nagtetext. Plus, it’s been thrice that I’ve received free polytone from Globe(siguro dahil 4 years na akong di nagpapalit ng SIM card…hehe) — sure akong walang bawas sa load ko yun kasi when I received those wala akong load. ;) Wala naman akong natatanggap na unnecessary advertisments kasi I didn’t subscribe for any. I did subscribe once but I unsubscribed din. Kaya nga ako nagtataka kung bakit nagrereklamo ang mga iba sa ads ng Globe. Baka naman nagsubscribe sila for some ads(pero nakalimutan nila na nagsubscribe sila dun) kaya sila nakakatanggap. :D
