What IS your blog conviction?

Jayvee of abuggedlife.com made a project where you define your blog conviction or why are you blogging? Whether you met that conviction until now or not.

I started this blog because I’ve always loved writing, I would always keep a notebook within my room so I could write stuff about my day or my frustrations. I would like to keep it private but my mother always finds out about it. When I was surfing one day (during my Paul Artadi obsession fandom days), I found a site that looks like a diary of sorts. Being the envious person that I am, I wanted one for myself as well, and being the clueless person that my mom is when it comes to technology. The idea appealed to me.

At first it was really just a plain diary with “You don’t have any right to tell me what I can and can not write because this is my site” kind of slogan. But then, as I get older, life becomes more complicated so I need something to take the stress away from me. Writing helps a lot, even in my non-blogging days.

There it is, why I started blogging. Now, I want to take this a bit further, I want to mention what I have learned in blogging.

  • It is always better to write than to speak in English. In writing, I have ample time to think and re-think my statements before clicking the Publish button. I am tactless so talking without hurting someone or being misunderstood is hard.
  • I’m not that private kind of person. I always thought I am, but blogging made me realize that I am willing to divulge information I thought I’d keep to myself or people I’m close to.
  • My English is not perfect. I’ve been blogging for how many years now and I still couldn’t perfect the language, though I have an excuse because it is not my native tongue haha :P Excuses, excuses.
  • I have to be careful on what I write, people do not know me personally and they would base what they think of me on whatever it is that I write here. Also, because well, people I know personally are reading this blog of mine. Sometimes I feel awkward honestly… I feel so… transparent to them, not that it’s their fault noh? :)
  • My life is boring. Well I couldn’t say it better than that. hehe

Why do you blog and what have you learned through this? :)

I have yet to meet a Filipino who has perfect command of the English language. So don’t be afraid of using it as often as possible, even in speaking. That’d make you be more comfortable with it.
