Sweeney Todd

Sweeney Todd

I’ve always liked Johnny Depp since I saw him at Chocolat — darn, he’s so gorgeous! So I went ahead and watched Sweeney Todd with my best friend last Saturday right after the bootcamp. I was so excited to watch it that I did not mind that dear Johnny Depp is a murderer, it cannot be that graphic, eh?

Before the movie started, my best friend and I agreed that we will never watch a movie like Saw, it’s just too graphic for our taste we might not be able to sleep after watching it so it’s not good. Then a few minutes after, we saw Johnny Depp slash a man’s neck, perfect, we went in a theater to watch a movie where blood spurts out unknowingly. Nice. Good thing is that we did not get our usual food for watching movies — burgers. LOL. I know that 300 was so graphic as well but I did not have to turn my ahead away from the screen so much before.

It was still nice though, we did not know that it was a play so we were a little bothered when the people behind us started singing the songs together with Todd and Mrs. Lovett. We just thought that it’s weird that they know the songs so well hehe. She wasn’t as bothered by it though, I don’t know what she enjoyed more, the fact that droplets of blood get to the camera lens or the fact that no matter what she says I won’t look at the screen.

Anyway, it was hilarious, it was gross, it was graphic but I still loved it til the end! I loved the last scene because it’s bittersweet and also when they were looking over the window describing what each person would taste like — but I specially like the part after Johnny Depp’s “emo moment” and Mrs. Lovett was so nonchalant. Hilarious, really hehe.

I wanna watch it on stage, I wonder if some theater group will be doing it? Hmmm.. Does anyone know?

I can’t believe he killed her wife! I can’t believe he almost killed his daughter! Lol. Ganun pala yung Sweeney Todd. I’ve never seen the actual musical play before. Hehe

Gore aside, I’d have to commend Johnny Depp for portraying the role well. And he’s singing now! So cute. :)
