Psych

I came across Psych at C/S (one of my favorite channels right now), I don’t know what made me watch — It’s probably when the movie in HBO was so boring but I’m glad that I did! This one’s so hilarious lol. I’ve been watching a lot of crime shows — Law and Order, Law and Order SVU, Criminal Intent, Cold Case, Bones (from time to time) etc. that watching a funny crime show is very refreshing.
Sure, the cases are pretty light, it’s kinda impossible that they could keep fooling people that Shawn is a psychic, someone’s bound to know. But their antics are pretty wacky it keeps serious thoughts out of your mind. You can’t imagine how pissed I was when the 1st season ended without my knowing and they had the reruns on Sunday mornings! That time I couldn’t even catch Law and Order because it was moved from night to mornings (5am every weekdays, darn!).

Moving on, Psych is about Shawn Spencers and his partner (more like his victim LOL) Burton Guster’s important roles as psychics for the Santa Barbara Police Department. Before that, Shawn’s life is a mess, he couldn’t hold a job, he doesn’t have a steady relationship and his relationship with his father is not going smoothly. The only constant thing in his life at that point was that he was a usual face in the police station because he phones in tips thanks to his “heightened observational skills.”
However, one day, he was put in into questioning because the lead detective of the police station thought that he was a part of the robbery that’s why he knew that the store manager was the culprit. He doesn’t want to go to jail so he announced that he’s a “psychic” and proved it by voicing his deductions (which are impressively right on the spot) which he got by looking at various things about the people around him.
He was let go, he got the money and after that, the chief of the police station came after him and asked his “service” again for a crime that just got in with the threat that he better be a real deal, otherwise she’ll personally make sure that he doesn’t get away with it. With no other choice, he gets Gus, his childhood friend who is easily taken by Shawn by saying that “there are forensics on the scene.” When the crime was solved, they started a detective agency and Shawn rented out a place using both their names to Gus’ intense displeasure. From then on, they are frequently called out (actually, come to think of it, Shawn usually meddles with their cases hehe) to solve various cases, from simple missing reports to thievery and of course murder.
My father bought a DVD of it and I had a marathon last Sunday. It was so much fun! I was laughing so hard my family’s curious about it and I just tell them that it’s because Psych is so hilarious. They don’t care.
One of my favorite episodes was when they worked on a case where the person is both the victim and the culprit — he had a split personality. The girl personality wants to get rid of “it”. Obviously, if she does that then the two personalities will lose it too, so the other personality who knows what will happen killed off the doctor who was about to do an operation on “them.” It wasn’t mentioned why he had split personality but anyway, it was fun. The girl personality had a crush on Gus! wahahaha

I still can’t help but laugh whenever I see this! That’s Shawn and Gus, Gus is dressed as Micheal Jackson (at least the MJ who still looked like a human)I forgot who Shawn was supposed to be.
The other one was when they got themselves to join a contest to protect the Simon Cowell-like judge from an American Idol-like (only this one’s duets) contest from being killed. They were so horrible LOL I can’t stop laughing when they performed, their audition piece was so horrible that the judge they were supposed to protect was so embarrassed when he said that they could be one of the participants. Man, I loved it.
Season 3 is about to come out now and I can’t wait!! Shawn and Juliet (the lead detective’s assistant) are having an off-screen romance and from the way Season 2 ended, it seems like they will be having a relationship on-screen too. It would have been fun to just let them flirt but I guess there’s no growth in that. Oh yeah, Shawn’s dad was a cop and as a kid, he was taught by his dad (and honed his skill as well) all about police work thinking he’d be a police himself. Obviously, he’s wrong but then again, Shawn turned out to be — to quote Shawn — “something awesome.”
