Shinshi Doumei Cross
A very heavy drama, like His and Her Circumstances though I doubt anything will topple that in terms of darkness — oh wait, there’s Elfen Lied — but the story is good and so is the art.
The story is about Haine Otomiya who was sold off by her father because their company is not faring so well. The truth is that she was sold off because her father knew that she was not really his but her mother’s former love’s daughter, so he thought that he was all doing them a favor by giving her back to her birth father. However, their relationships were in shambles because of misunderstanding. It was all sorted out when they were on the brink of death LOL, I don’t know but I find it really funny.
Anyway, she fell in love with Shizumasa once she read the book he made. She admired him and even became his girlfriend due to her persistence. But there’s a glitch, Shizumasa has a twin — Takanari and Takanari, in fact, is the one she had a relationship with because Shizumasa was sick during that time.
Shizumasa and Takanari is referred to as light and shadow respectively, Takanari is a shadow because Shizumasa is sickly, it was decided when they were still kids. The Togus inter-marry within the family and because of that, people born within the family were born with weak bodies so when there’s twins, only one person goes “out into the world.” The other one just becomes a backup just in case the light dies or gets sick, but the shadow is and will never be known by other people.
The truth is that Takanari was the one who made the book that Haine fell in love with and when she knew, she chose Takanari (because Takanari made her choose) but when she told Takanari, it was already Shizumasa there and it ends there.
Even though you know who ends up with whom, it’s still nice to know how it came to be.

Heheheh… Bwahahah. Mwahahahah! I have a copy of Death of Superman. I just wanted to say that :D. Although the one we have is the compiled thick version and not the individual ones (which are more expensive in the market). It was so sad…
Anyways, good manga choices. Although I find that Shinshi Something Cross (Gentleman’s Alliance in the Viz version) boring.
