Shopping and Girl Bonding

Arvie and I
This was taken a couple of years ago lol, we’re not as addicted to taking our photos like before

My best friend and I went to Trinoma last, last Saturday to unwind and just talk, well the original plan was to watch a movie but The Assassination of Jesse James and 31:10 to Yuma is not being shown there so we just binged with the food from Sbarro while we caught up with what’s happening with each other and our other friends.

After that we circled Landmark, supposedly to look for a dress that she could wear for a wedding this month (we didn’t find any) and also to check if the shoes we want to buy is still there, it’s already gone. :( In the end, we just bought matching shorts which I doubt I’ll ever wear outside. So, yeah, none of the original plans happened, surprise, surprise!

Whenever I read that women find shopping therapeutic, I don’t really get why. I mean, you’ll go round the stores, you’ll just be tired and you won’t even be able to buy stuff because it costs a lot. You’ll try on clothes and realize that even though you can afford it, it doesn’t suit you. What’s so relaxing with that, right? That’s the reason why I seldom go to the mall when I haven’t planned out what I’m gonna do there (or buy).

We have this weird idea that we would all actually look sexy when our pictures are taken while lying down. But of course, obviously, that’s not what happened! And also, note that we actually looked better when we’re blurred.

After last Saturday, I still don’t get what’s so good with window shopping. I do know 1 thing though, it’s fun if you’re with your friend(s). ‘Cause they can be your ego-booster (lol) or your link to reality — the people who will say “that looks awful, don’t you even dare look at that item.

So I see that window shopping is not only to tempt yourself with things that you want but cannot buy (and when you can buy then it’s already sold out) but I see it as also, you know a good way to bond because you’re not only looking at the items but talking too. Arvie and I were together for 3 hours and we never fell silent, I can’t even remember what we talked about that whole time!

Then last Saturday, my best friend and a couple of our other friends when to visit Eca, she just gave birth to her son, so now we have three boys in the barkada Nica’s Gabo who is 3 (the one in the photos), Madel’s John who will be turning 1 this June (and also my godson) and Eca’s Mikoy!

I would have taken lots of photos of Mikoy if I love children and I would have posted lots of stories on what we talked about (mostly about kids, pregnancy and giving birth) if I’m really into that kind of stuff, but unfortunately, I tend to shut off my ears whenever they start rambling about it. Sheesh, we’re not even in our mid 20s and they all sound like housewives already. Not that I don’t like housewives, I mean… we’re young. The last time that I could remember that we were all together, we were screaming our lungs out because Rukawa is so cute LOL and now they’re talking about their OBs and their kids, how to rear their children, financial problems.

And I realized that I am so not ready for that. I don’t why I have never been fond of kids, I guess I’m not really a “mother-material.” Oh well… to each his own I guess.

My friend and I used to go gaga over Rukawa too! And now that friend of mine is married and will probably be pregnant soon. Why is everybody else growing up while we’re stuck in this phase? haha.
