This was supposed to be posted on June 1, however, someone got excited and also counted the months when I was just doing part-time work and gave me an iPod touch (woohoo!) So naturally, some changes are in order.

Finally, a year in a single company and I still feel great! I can’t believe that it’s already been a year here, I feel like it’s only been a couple of months since I joined syndeo full-time and I still feel excited to work on our projects. OK.. so I’m not that excited to work all the time but whatever.

On this day last year, I went to Bo’s Coffee so my boss, Luis, will be able to brief me about the work that I’ll be doing. I went home and did what we talked about. At first my family found it weird to still stay at home when my boss is also within the country and we already have a physical office and forced me to get the hell out of the house ’cause they’re so sick and tired me (some family I have lol). So when I got the pink mac… I still stayed in the house to work often haha.

Anyway, a year ago, there were just a handful of us sharing the office, now there are 5 people sitting in the dev team table (when there’s a meeting, usually there’re only 3 or 4 people there). 4 intelligent guys who are so geeky my nose bleeds whenever they talk in alien language and laugh at geeky jokes — some of which I understand, thank goodness. By the way, workmates, if ever any of you’re reading this, I wanted to tell them you’re all gorgeous hunks but you know, I really don’t want to tell any lies. But I have the say that the girls are all pretty ;) *winkwinknudgedge* and yes, I’m telling the truth. LOL

Who would’ve thought that a year can pass by that fast, no? It’s already been a year and I still don’t know anything about Ruby on Rails aside from the basic stuff and I’m still having a hard time with javascript. Being with these people almost all of the time, one would think I could actually pick their brains and learn my way with it but I guess there’s a limit to how much information my brain can actually absorb.

My dream of learning Ruby on Rails still stands though, any takers? I’m a bad student though haha

You know when you’re doing something and you feel that you’re not compensated enough? That you’re doing the best you can and yet they’re still asking for more blood but they’re only giving you a scrap of bread? How about you’re so stressed with work that you end up having nightmares of it?

I don’t feel that and I guess that’s one of the reasons why I stayed (am staying), the bug that I have to fix today is not the same as the bug that I had to fix yesterday… Sometimes it was the bug I fixed last week, or the bug I fixed last month, you know the feeling? lol

While I was talking with Kin during dinner, I finally found a real reason why I stayed (am/will staying) in syndeo and that is — I don’t have any reason to leave.

Anyway, all I want to say is that I’m proud of the company I’m in and I won’t trade it for anything in the world (right now, uh wait). I’m glad that they haven’t fired me yet or maybe it hasn’t crossed their minds yet because we’re all so busy (please make them busier haha). I’m proud of the fact that I share the same table with these people who are very knowledgeable in their fields of expertise and I couldn’t have asked for better workmates. :) (Come back Kristina! hehe) Kristina’s here for a week! Yay! Though we’ve only been together last Tuesday ’cause I wasn’t in the office yesterday (and I think she’ll not be in today) because since last week, Wednesdays have become my official “Hell on Earth Day”, go figure.

We’re all supposed to cry now.

Proud owner of an iPod Touch

Need I say anything more? Booyah! I love every moment I’m using it and I feel very happy that I stayed with syndeo :) Awww… I really love this company <3 :D

Ironically, the one feature that I love the most with the Touch which I'll christen with the name (because it seems that christening gadgets is in these days) “The Touch” because I call the macbook I'm using as “The Mac” and guess what name I gave the iPod Nano we own. Yes, it's called “The Nano” -- pretty creative, huh?

Anyway, as I was saying, the features of The Touch that I abuse the most are the Safari browser, mail and calendar because [sarcasm] I feel that it's actually easier to type on The Touch than in an actual keyboard [/sarcasm]. Anyway, it's amusing to visit other sites using The Touch, the first ones I tested are the sites we're working on and let's just say that it made me a little concerned, but let's shush about it for now and pretend that every thing's working perfectly ;)

An Improvement

Last week, I told everyone that I was able to finish a glass of beer, yes? Last Tuesday, because we’re complete for the first time ever, we went out to dinner (with Kin again, yay!) and yes, you know what’s next. We had to drink and I was able to finish a bottle of beer!

When I told an officemate about it, he was happy and said that “it’s an improvement” and guess what, what happened when I got home is an improvement too! I vomited the hundreds of pesos worth of food 3 times and the allergy came back with a vengeance, so note to self, say no to beer. While that was happening, I remind myself that I have The Touch and try to confuse myself even more that it’s worth it.

I wasn’t able to convince myself so I just checked my mail and updated this post in The Touch, I couldn’t finish though because I don’t know if dragging is possible in The Touch (and I’m too lazy to open the manual) and the textarea, surprisingly, doesn’t have any scrollbars, so I was only able to add the first paragraph. :(

And in case you’re wondering, I did not post a photo of everyone in the table not because someone told me that it is illegal, it’s because we all know that it’s the first time we’ll all be together for the first time but no one brought a camera with them. Yes, we also conveniently forgot that almost everyone of us brought a mac with them.

Yay for a year in syndeo::media, yay for The Touch and BOO on beers and to whoever thought that inventing it is the best thing on Earth! Yay!
