Here I stand alone and confused,
Looking at the road ahead,
Where will this path lead me to?
I turned to ask but my vision is feeble.
All I could see are shadows,
Blurred, flurrying shades of gray
Fast paced, they are…
Not even sparing a glance.
I took a step forward,
And two steps back.
Afraid of the unforeseen fate ahead –
Lying and waiting.
A brush, a nudge, a push
With it I fell,
And droplets of blood fell on the ground,
I sat dazed, not sure of what emotion to show.
A step on my foot,
A kick on my thigh –
I am here! I am here!
Why can’t anybody see?
A nudge, a push, a step, a kick,
Scarlet liquid fell to the soil
Blurred people, all hurrying
They just couldn’t stop to see what is lying just around.
I’ve had enough! I stand upright,
I am ready now to face my music –
But there was a kick, a nudge, a step, a push
And once again I face the earth in which I have fallen.
Will I be this way forever?
I screamed hoping someone would turn.
But alas! I am most unfortunate;
For I am amidst deaf gypsies,
Flurried, fast-paced, all hurrying to the place of unknown.
Just then I realized –
As blood oozed onto the ground,
And people step, kick, nudge and push me…
I don’t feel a thing.
I am but a stone
Amidst all the finest of golds –
With the thought, I stand up once again,
I am still lost and unsure of where to go.
But with one final goal,
I will not be this way forever,
I will find that one place,
Where stones are turned to gold.
